    Description

    Please Note:

Many used items in our picture(s) have been cleaned and/or bead blasted prior to being photographed to show condition and detail. The item you receive, in most circumstances, will be pulled from the donor car and shipped to you without being cleaned. We do not retake pictures each time a used item sells. Pictures are a good indicator of what you will receive, but not all used parts age the same. On high dollar parts, email us and we can send a few pictures of the actual part available.

"Core" Items: If we use the word "Core" in the title of the product, the item has been deemed rebuildable, but has not been rebuilt.  The item you receive, in most circumstances, will be pulled from the donor car and shipped to you without being cleaned.

Used alternator adjusting bracket for any 390 engine 1968-69 Mercury Cougar or Ford Mustang without factory smog. Specifically this is for 1968 390-2V or X code engines, and 1969 390-4V or 390IP engines offered in 1969 cars with S code designation.

    Replaces Ford part number C8AE-10145-A.

This is the 411 for 1968-69 alternator mounting on Mustang and Cougar with 390 engines. If your 1968 S code car (390GT or 390-4V) was delivered in the United States (meaning not Canada or other foreign country) your car was originally equipped with smog, and your alternator was mounted low, under the smog air pump on the passenger side of the engine. All X codes or 390-2V premium fuel cars in 1968, and all 390-4V or 390IP engines (S code) in 1969, did not have smog and used this alternator mounting bracket which locates the alternator high up on the passenger side. Those of you with 1968-70 390 or 428CJ engines can use the top mounting alternator brackets on your engines without modification. You just need the proper brackets and hardware. One pit fall is the alternator wiring which is specific to high or low mounted alternators. We have successfully 'clocked' the rear of the alternators to use original alternator wiring harnesses.

I bought my 69 Cougar in Jul of '09 as a retirement from the Army gift to myself. From day 1 it had intermittent heating problems that I tried to fix. I changed the radiator, thermostat, water pump, and added 2 12 in 1400 cfm electric cooling...

WCCC hooked me up with an original glove box cable and the correct screws WITH shoulders for my glove box. Their listing for these screws explains that the original screws have a shoulder for the cable and most people put in the wrong screws--which...

I have been a cougar owner for just shy of 30 years, I have been dealing with part problems for a very long time. The people at WCCC have always be honest, and overly helpfull. I now have a 1970 XR-7 mostly rebuilt, and my son has a 1968 base...
