    Description

The Wittek Company manufactured the tower clamps used on the Cougar from 1967 to 1973, the Mustang from 1964 1/2 to 1973, as well as many other Ford and Mercury cars during that period. In October or 1993, the company filed for bankruptcy. This has made the tower clamp unavailable to the classic car restorer. Our supplier was able to bid at the auction for enough of the original tooling and parts to make these clamps available again. Other companies have also reproduced these clamps, but neglected several critical factors in their design. These Wittek clamps are hardened to the correct Rockwell hardness. Other suppliers did not take this into consideration and now customers are experiencing breakage of the clamps upon tightening. These clamps have the correct hot-dip galvanized plating so they have the correct appearance.

    Pros:
    • correct appearance
    • fit
    • quality material
    Cons:
These clamps are good quality and I have used them in the past. I generally consider them a one-time use but if your careful you can get by reusing them. I ordered a new set to keep on hand. I hate worm clamps and I won't use them. I definitely recommend these clamps.

I bought my 69 Cougar in Jul of '09 as a retirement from the Army gift to myself. From day 1 it had intermittent heating problems that I tried to fix. I changed the radiator, thermostat, water pump, and added 2 12 in 1400 cfm electric cooling...

I have been a cougar owner for just shy of 30 years, I have been dealing with part problems for a very long time. The people at WCCC have always be honest, and overly helpfull. I now have a 1970 XR-7 mostly rebuilt, and my son has a 1968 base...
