    Description

Featured in this kit are all the basic items you need to convert your small block 1967 - 1968 Cougar or Mustang from a 20" wide radiator with a fixed four blade fan to a 24" wide radiator with 3 cores and the MAXIMUM cooling big block, high performance 7 blade clutch fan. This setup was used on the highest horsepower drive-trains of the day including the Legendary 427 Side-Oiler equipped GTE and the 428 SCJ Drag-Pak equipped Cougars and Mustangs. This might sound like overkill for your small block but keep in mind most of the motors out there these days have been rebuilt which means that the cylinder walls have usually been bored out resulting in thinner cylinder walls. Thinner cylinder walls mean more work for your cooling system. If you have AC then the larger radiator is a MUST. In addition to this kit you may still want to purchase a new radiator cap and hoses. This kit saves you money over buying each item individually and insures you get the right parts to do the conversion correctly.

NOTE: If you have a 1967, you'll need to order the 68 radiator hoses.

I just finished installing the radiator kit. Had to move the radiator as far down as possible to get the shroud to clear. I had to bend the upper mount to press down on the radiator. Other wise an easy install. Quality parts. Video was a big help.

    Cons:
I've had the upgrade in for about a month now and the cooler operation of my 68 xr7 with a 302 is great. Problems for me were that the holes in my Coog for the new mounting pieces were not threaded and I didn't have a tap so I just substituted a bolt/nut combination I had lying around. Other problem is that I've gotten the shroud as low as possible and it still is rubbing against the fan blades. Don't know how to raise the fan so I'm getting ready to cut the shroud.

This cooling system upgrade is an excellent addition to my 67 289 Cougar. Easy installation and now I am confident in driving anywhere regardless of outside temp.

    Question
    Asked:
I have a 68 Mustang with A/C using the 24 inch radiator and the small block C60E-G 7 blade fan (17.5”) with thermal fan clutch. 1. Will your big block fan be an upgrade? 2. Will it fit with my exiting Shroud or do I need to buy the big Block shroud? 3. How well does the fan clutch position the fan in the big block should? From the measurements you have posted this fan clutch is 3/4 to 1 inch shorter than the small block fan/clutch likely due to the longer Big block dimensions. If this is true would it be better to stick with a small block clutch fan to keep the fan properly mounted 1/2 in and 1/2 out of the shroud?

I bought my 69 Cougar in Jul of '09 as a retirement from the Army gift to myself. From day 1 it had intermittent heating problems that I tried to fix. I changed the radiator, thermostat, water pump, and added 2 12 in 1400 cfm electric cooling...
