These were never offered originally but are a popular accessory and more cost efficient than buying a replacement for that unsightly old wheel and tire you took from a Granada in the bone yard! Only the 71-73 came with the speckled pattern.

Spare Tire Mount Wing Nut Reproduction for the 1968 through 1973 Mercury Cougar / Ford Mustang

For 1968 Ford standardized or changed all of the J-bolt threads to the beefier 1/2"-13. We have noted two variations of this wing nut. The most obvious identifier between the two is the tabs in the center. The majority have these tabs present, the minority do not. We also stock and carry the correct disc or hold down plate, and the J bolt. Lots of sizes and lengths for those. Do you have the correct one?

10 5/8" Spare Tire Mounting Bolt. Not 100% correct, but close replacement for the 1969 - 1973 with the 10 3/4" spare tire mounting bolt. Diameter 7/16" Replaces Ford Part #: C8ZZ-1448-A, D0ZZ-1448-A & D1ZZ-1448-A.

According to the MPC 1970 primarily, a few 1971-1973's. If you have a hardtop or coupe, (VIN numbers starting with either 0F91 or 0F93) and standard wheels with hub caps. Or, any 1971 - 1973 with style steel wheels. Total length is 6-1/4 inches, with 4 inches being threaded. Threads 1/2-13. We find this bolt to only have 2 1/2" of threads. 1971 - 1973 Mercury Cougar hard tops and coupes with regular steel wheels and hub caps. J bolt total length listed in MPC is 8-3/4 inches, with 6-1/2 inches threaded on the straight end but we find the actual length to be 10" long with about 4" of threads. We also see this used with the 1971 - 1973 Kelsey Hayes Styled Steel wheel even though the MPC lists another size. A nice reproduction of the standard air cleaner wing nut. This version was used on most Ford products through the 1980's.

Round ring shaped gasket that goes on top of the carburetor. Protects and seals the carburetor to the air cleaner.

Original retainer that clips onto the breather element nipple sticking through the air cleaner base and holds the elbow for the hose going to the PCV valve.  Ford calls this part the Crankcase Emissions Filter Retainer.The Master Parts Catalog says this part is only for 1971 and newer cars, but this part has been found on low mile 1970 cars as well. Ford part # D1AZ-9E628-A.

Used air cleaner lid for all 1972 H code 351-2V engines. About 14.75 inches in diameter. Ford part number for the air cleaner assembly is D2ZZ-9600-A. The air cleaner lid by itself doesn't have a number.

Not sure of the exact application for these original Ford stereo speaker wiring harnesses. We think that they may have come from the radio kits installed by Ford and Mercury dealers. This is one of the hardest clips to obtain on any year of Mercury Cougar. Two required per bezel for the three bezels located on the passenger door and the two bezels in the back seat. Do not pry your bezels off or these clips will break rather release the clip with a small screw driver by inserting it in the rectangular hole on either side. NOTE!!!! This offshore switch is assembled with plated steel rivet contacts as opposed to brass rivet contacts like original. Whereas the Torino or Mustang do fine with 2 incandescent rear bulbs the Cougars with 6 bulbs put too much load on the switch and they fail. The only way these switches will hold up in a Cougar is if you convert to LED. Our turn signal switches are made on the FoMoCo original tooling. If you have replaced your sequential unit in the trunk with one of our new solid state sequential units and are still having problems then the turn signal switch is most likely the culprit as the only other part to the system is the wiring harness itself. This plastic socket is very brittle and almost always breaks when installing a new door jamb switches. Does not fit cars with Warning Group with door ajar option. Simply install by carefully breaking the old brittle plastic socket apart with pliers to free up the wire leads and plug wire leads into the new socket.
