okay here we are on the West Coast Classic cougar wrecking yard and a request we get all the time people ask us how do you get in old cars have been sitting in Fields Forever and you push and push the door knob and nothing happens you know you don't want to break the window you don't want to annihilate the door panel to get to the mechanism here this often works if the car's been there way too long forget it but uh sometimes it's just your regular daily driver that'll lock up on you and what's happening is that door latch has worn out so there's a tolerant there's a little lever that goes up and down and the tolerances is worn and the the track in which it goes up and down has widened so when you go to hit the button it's not quite hitting the top here what I'm going to do is just liberally soak everything I can related to that latch just spray the heck out of it and then I'm going to go in here I'm going to put a curvature on my straw and try to really just use half the can if you have to get in there and eventually you'll soak that latch just go and go and go and go and then get inside the car the car's completely sealed well maybe you can book her with a wing window if it's a project car you know you're going to restore you can pop the rear window trim and take your utility blade just go all the way around the Rubber and your glass will come out you'll figure it out but our goal here is not to mess with those valuable door panels so I'll go inside and I usually take the lock Knob Off put on my vice grips go up and down a few times and as you're going up and down up and down you'll actually feel it release so let's see if it works [Applause]

[Applause] there you go now before you close the door you might want to change out the door latch because if it did it once it's going to do it again so now you've got your inside now you can easily get inside and service it pop off your door panel whatever you need to be doesn't always work but just cougars Mustangs Torinos lots of Ford products from this era that's a trick I've learned

nope nothing crap I'm a liar [Music] this one's gonna come open that's another one

Hi Tommyboy,

None of the trunk floor mats that we know of come with an underlayment, you will need to install that separately.

You have a couple options for that:

  • factory like underlayment kits (ITEM #: 15326, we only list the full car kit, but can special order just the trunk)
  • hushmats (ITEM #: 12174).

Then you would want the premium version of the trunk floor mat (ITEM #: 25933).

If you are trying to cut down on the sound from the trunk into the cab, you might also want to consider putting in the Rear Seat to Trunk divider, which also adds strength to the chassis (ITEM #: 14-0004).
