Please Note:
Many used items in our picture(s) have been cleaned and/or bead blasted prior to being photographed to show condition and detail. The item you receive, in most circumstances, will be pulled from the donor car and shipped to you without being cleaned. We do not retake pictures each time a used item sells. Pictures are a good indicator of what you will receive, but not all used parts age the same. On high dollar parts, email us and we can send a few pictures of the actual part available.
"Core" Items: If we use the word "Core" in the title of the product, the item has been deemed rebuildable, but has not been rebuilt. The item you receive, in most circumstances, will be pulled from the donor car and shipped to you without being cleaned.
Product Condition Grades
Below is a general description of what the criteria is for our product condition grades. A = Excellent / Above Average
B = Average / Some flaws / Good to Excellent Driver Quality
C = Obvious flaws / Poor to Average Driver Quality
D, E, F = Worse, Worser, Worsest
NOTE: WE SUGGEST LOCAL PICK UP ONLY FOR CORE ENGINE BLOCKS BECAUSE WE CANNOT GUARANTEE BLOCKS WILL NOT HAVE CRACKS INTERNALLY.
Long block, factory C code 289-2V V-8 engine. Rated at 195 Hp with 8.7:1 compression ratio in 1968. Likely 0.030" bored motor that may or may not have been in running condition when pulled. Guaranteed to be rebuildable. Complete engine less carburetor, exhaust manifolds, fan, distributor, accessories, pulleys, and flex plate. Intake manifold and oil pan are included but oil pan will be in poor condition. We would be happy to match your build date. Most of our engines originally came with an automatic transmission, in some cases these blocks will not have the tapped hole for the manual transmission Z-bar bracket. Carburetors, distributors, fans, accessories, and pulleys are available separately. Many different combinations of pulleys and brackets depend upon things such as air conditioning and power steering.
This item cannot ship through any conventional methods (USPS, UPS etc). Along with the cost of the item, crate fees and shipping charges will usually add up to about $600. Motors ship via www.forwardair.com so be sure and check their locations as you will be picking up at their terminal.
*Trivia* Many have assumed incorrectly that whenever a 289 appears in a 1968 Cougar that it was a "leftover" from 1967. Actually the 289 was not available in early 1968 but was introduced later in the year to compete with other lower priced makes. These motors are stamped "1968" and were only available in 2V form and always were offered in conjunction with standard interiors.
