    Description

    Please Note:

Many used items in our picture(s) have been cleaned and/or bead blasted prior to being photographed to show condition and detail. The item you receive, in most circumstances, will be pulled from the donor car and shipped to you without being cleaned. We do not retake pictures each time a used item sells. Pictures are a good indicator of what you will receive, but not all used parts age the same. On high dollar parts, email us and we can send a few pictures of the actual part available.

"Core" Items: If we use the word "Core" in the title of the product, the item has been deemed rebuildable, but has not been rebuilt.  The item you receive, in most circumstances, will be pulled from the donor car and shipped to you without being cleaned.

This is the best upgrade tower for your Cougar or Mustang that does not have the factory reinforcement plate. 1969 features the largest plate of all years 1968-70 and will fit perfectly without modification into any year 1967-70. If both of your towers are cracked this is a no brainer, if only one of your towers are cracked then it would look out of place to have one tower that is reinforced and one that was not. No specific part number for this structural front suspension section. For 1970, the plate size was shortened, for easier access for spark plug changes.

Our used 1970 shock tower is a better value, if concours correctness is not a consideration.

Generic Ford part # C9ZZ-16055-B, included apron and side member.

    Pros:
    • Beefy
    Cons:
    • Lots of work to make fit a 67-68
I think the descriptions is a little misleading as I have previously spoke with Don about. Although the tower itself would be a direct swap for a 67-68, the top flange which the fender aprons weld to will also need to be swapped out with your original 67-68 pieces. The 69-70 flanges are taller than the 67-68. What this means is that you will also have to drill out additional spot welds inside the top of the tower to separate the flanges which is also part of the top spring perch. Otherwise, I have no doubt this would make an excellent upgrade for the additional effort. Don was nice and allowed me to return and refund the difference for used 67 towers so I have zero complaints. Thanks WCCC!

I bought my 69 Cougar in Jul of '09 as a retirement from the Army gift to myself. From day 1 it had intermittent heating problems that I tried to fix. I changed the radiator, thermostat, water pump, and added 2 12 in 1400 cfm electric cooling...
