I finally got around to replacing the cracked windshield in my 1967 Cougar with this replacement. The glass appeared to be the correct size, and wasn’t too difficult to install with the proper new gasket also sourced from WCCC.
Good Lord though I never want to do that job again if I can help it. I watched Don’s video a few times before tackling the job. Let me say he makes it look easy when it’s a freshly painted car with no headliner. My cautions here are that the weed eater filament or string (whichever you choose) -will- pull some of the rope seal with it and if your not careful it will get on the leading edge of the headliner, a-pillar trim and dashboard. I will say Don’s recommendation of using Wax and Grease remover is spot-on; it helped remove the errant seal goo left in various places after pulling the windshield into place. It also worked well to clean up after caulking in the sealant under the edge on the outside and around the perimeter.
Sooo… messy job yes, product satisfaction, certainly!
