Spare Tire Mount Wing Nut Reproduction for the 1968 through 1973 Mercury Cougar / Ford Mustang

For 1968 Ford standardized or changed all of the J-bolt threads to the beefier 1/2"-13. We have noted two variations of this wing nut. The most obvious identifier between the two is the tabs in the center. The majority have these tabs present, the minority do not. We also stock and carry the correct disc or hold down plate, and the J bolt. Lots of sizes and lengths for those. Do you have the correct one?

10 5/8" Spare Tire Mounting Bolt. Not 100% correct, but close replacement for the 1969 - 1973 with the 10 3/4" spare tire mounting bolt. Diameter 7/16" Replaces Ford Part #: C8ZZ-1448-A, D0ZZ-1448-A & D1ZZ-1448-A.

According to the MPC 1970 primarily, a few 1971-1973's. If you have a hardtop or coupe, (VIN numbers starting with either 0F91 or 0F93) and standard wheels with hub caps. Or, any 1971 - 1973 with style steel wheels. Total length is 6-1/4 inches, with 4 inches being threaded. Threads 1/2-13. We find this bolt to only have 2 1/2" of threads. 1971 - 1973 Mercury Cougar hard tops and coupes with regular steel wheels and hub caps. J bolt total length listed in MPC is 8-3/4 inches, with 6-1/2 inches threaded on the straight end but we find the actual length to be 10" long with about 4" of threads. We also see this used with the 1971 - 1973 Kelsey Hayes Styled Steel wheel even though the MPC lists another size. Exact replacement inside door handle nut, trunk lock nut, and hood scoop nut. Same finish as originals. 10 of these are used to mount the 68-71 hood scoop found on the 68 428 CJ, 69-70 Eliminator, 69-70 428 Ram Air equipped Cougars and 71 GT and 429CJ. This rod bridges the gap between the trunk lock cylinder and trunk latch. It is held in place by the round spring that attaches to the back of the trunk lock cylinder. 1971 - 1973 Cougar only.

Used door lock and trunk lock cylinder retainer clip. Not exactly the same as the door lock clips. Trunk clips have the small hole, a hooked tool would be used for removal. Not used on 1967 - 1968 Cougar trunk lock cylinders. *Note - For use on Cougar trunk locks built prior to 3-1-1972.
