Used servo cover from a 1969-71 Ford C-6 transmission. This cover has the big R cast into it, which designates it as an "R" Intermediate Servo Band Cover. Typically, this cover would be found on U code C6's, from 1968-70 Mercury Cougar and Ford Mustangs with Q or R code 428CJ engines. Additionally 1971 Mercury Cougar or Ford Mustang with J or C code 429CJ engines. 1968-71 Ford and Mercury mid sized cars also with 428CJ or 429CJ. Cover only, marked C8OP-7D027-A.
This 1969-70 Mercury Cougar and Ford Mustang shield, was installed at the factory to protect the heater motor from being damaged when the Big Block 390 / 428CJ's were being dropped in. As noted in the factory assembly manuals we sell, they were supposed to be removed once the motor was in place. We have found that more often than not they were left in place as it was probably too time consuming to remove them. Technically they should not be in place on a concours car but practically...

Get a grip with this reproduction Hurst T handle, or shifter handle. This 1971 model is without the set-screw as found on the 1970 shifter handle. To make this handle correct for 1970, you need to drill and tap for a set screw.Ford part # D1OZ-7213-A. Check out this video

This rod is unique to 1970 because it was the first year of the lock out rod. Very hard to come by when you consider there was no 390 option for 1970. Notice this rod features two different part numbers. Adjustable rod that connects the floor shifter to the big block C-6 automatic transmissions. C6 transmissions only, code "U" on your door data plate tag. 428 Cobra Jet engines were the only Cougar engines to receive the C-6 automatic transmission.
