Often when your fuel gauge is acting up, this is the culprit, not the gauge or sending unit. The problem with these brass floats, is that after year of being in contact with fuel, they will begin to corrode and disintegrate. We suggest going with the new foam floats. Low quality off shore part that requires soldering to your fuel sending unit. This is a temperature sensing device that activates when the fuel level drops enough to expose the unit at which point the circuit is closed and the low fuel light comes on. Commonly referred to as a Thermister / Thermistor / Low Fuel Sending Unit.

Good aluminum piece that has no corrosion and no dings. This same bezel was used on all Standard, XR7 or Eliminator Cougars for 1969 and 1970. Obviously the clock hole was not utilized on the Standard Cougar.

This actually is a pretty impressive part once installed if your expectations are not overly high. It fits snug (very tight) over your existing cracked dash and you affix it by putting silicone around the perimeter.
