Right side axle, 28 spline 31-7/8 inch length. Ships with used bearing, bearing retainer plate, and 5 pressed in wheel studs. *Note 429 CJ equipped Cougars came with heavy duty 31 splined axles.

Housing overall width - 55-3/4 inches flange to flange. Spring perches are 43 inches apart on center. Bare housing with proper axle pad spacing for all 1971-1973 Cougars. Over-sized shipping length. Axles needed: Passenger side - 32 inches long, Driver side 28 inches long.

OEM style nut to hold the axle U-bolt to the axle. Fine threaded like originals 7/16-20 grade 5. Will not fit some reproduction U-bolts. Sometimes these are called shock plate bolts. Replaces Ford part # 379244-S

This is the correct base for a 1972 Mercury Cougar with a Q code 351-4V Cleveland engine.
