Used 1970-72 black AUTOLITE marked oil fill cap with black plastic elbow. Several variations noted from our collection, AUTOLITE and MOTORCRAFT versions. These spacer / washers were used on the rear belts of 1968 - 1973 Cougars. 1968 used two per bolt for a total of eight, 69-71 used one per rear belt for a total of four and 72-73 used one per belt on the inner only as the outer belts had a re-tractor in the rear 72-73. They were red to guide the line workers on placement.

Used locking pawl for the 1970 - 1979 Mercury Cougar or Ford Mustang that is equipped with a factory tilt steering column. This unit works in conjunction with a pin and is responsible for locking the tilt column in place. In many cases, the pin tends to move out of place and break or chip the teeth of the locking pawl. This retainer clamps together the two edges of the shroud and sets into the mounting holes on the column. The original is very hard to remove because of the saw blade teeth inside the grooves, and most times the tabs will easily break off. This reproduction will not have those teeth.
