The job you have been putting off. Glad I did it. Replace old dried Beltline Weatherstrip on doors and Quarter Glass. No more rattling and now better protect against water intrusion to doors. Nice weekend project parts are quality and fit exact.

O.K. first I had a problem with the rear fuzzies. The curve was wrong and they didn't fit my rear inner 1/4 panels. I contacted Repop about this and to their credit they made me a new set which fitted fine although the seal is too far away from the glass. I fitted the outer door seals but the clips don't stay in the holes in the door. I've straightened the holes out and tweeked the clips bit they're either too loose, so the seal folds down with the glass as it's wound down, or it just falls out of the holes completely. Problem is I've already thrown out my old seals or I would transfer the old clips to the new seals.

This kit has the same sized "staples" to attach the felt to the door panel as it uses for the rear quarter panels. The problem is, the rear quarter panels are a LOT thicker than the metal at the top of the door backer board. Good luck getting the rear quarter felt strips installed with the short staples. How much more could it cost to provide two sets of staples? I'd pay $20 for 8 longer staples if that's what they charged. It was VERY frustrating installing the quarter panel felt. That's why I set the material and fit at one star. Otherwise, it fit fine.

This kit was much needed for my Cougar, as mine were pretty much completely gone. I wasn't happy with the fit of the outside stripping as it doesn't stay flush against the door. For the inside felt stripping that attaches to the door panel, I wish it had holes that were lined up with the pre-existing ones, so drilling wasn't required. Overall, this kit is probably the best available, and is a must have to protect the insides of your doors.

Watch out for West Coast Classic Cougars (WCCC), they over charged me for shipping and they might have done it to you too. I recently placed an order for item number 19014, a belt line weather stripping kit. I was quoted a weight of 11 pounds for the item and charged $34.35 for shipping. When the package arrived I could very clearly tell that it did not weigh 11 pounds. I called UPS ground and they told me the package weighed 3 pounds exactly. UPS also stated there was no extra charge for a box, sized 48x6x6 inches, which is the size of the box in which it arrived. UPS also told me that WCCC quoted the value of the item to UPS at $69.64, when, according to their website, it costs $92.85. I can only imagine WCCC did this to save on insurance costs during shipping.

So I called WCCC and asked for the manager. The man who answered the phone said he didn’t have a manager that he knew of so I can only assume it was the seemingly nice guy in the videos on the WCCC website. I explained the above situation and he gave me a very complicated answer that I did not understand but included a supposed up-charge for the size of the package. When I confronted him with the fact that UPS had told me there was no such surcharge, he made it sound like all he did was deal with car parts and didn’t understand shipping costs. He then countered by saying that I knew what the cost of shipping was when I ordered the item. I absolutely did know the shipping costs at time of order, but they were based on an 11 pound item, which weather stripping is obviously not, even with the packaging materials included. I asked if I could speak to the person who did understand shipping costs. The employee on the phone said if I was on site I could but since I wasn’t, he would have to email the employee in charge of shipping because said employee worked from home. When I pointed out that he had just said the shipping employee worked from home but earlier he had said I could have spoken to the shipping employee had I been on site, the phone employee denied ever saying the shipping employee was onsite.

He then went on, in my opinion, to be rather indignant with me about how he felt like he was on the defensive against me and that I was being less than courteous, to put it mildly. I never raised my voice and only spoke in a respectful, if critical, tone. If the WCCC employee on the phone felt defensive, it was because he, at best, doesn’t understand how shipping works, as he stated, and is ok with his customers getting over charged for it, or, something more sinister is going on here. Who gets the extra money when a company charges to ship a 3-pound item for the weight of an 11 pound item? Well I know it’s not me and I’m pretty sure it’s not UPS. Maybe WCCC thinks they have the corner on a market and that makes them think they can get away with stuff like this. Don’t be their next mark!
