This is a great quality reproduction that didn't need to be changed at all to fit. The black background "decal" didn't need to be files, as it fit perfectly. It would be nice if it came preassembled, but it was super easy to do. The only issue I had was with the clips. Some did need some bending to even do anything. Even after bending and getting everything as tight as I could, the whole emblem wiggled a bit, unlike the original.
This was the easiest part I ever installed on my Cougar. Thank you all for supplying us with quality parts.
i had my grill off to be painted so it was a very easy install. It seems like it would still be possible to just squeeze a hand under the door to put the clips in place. I had to bend the clips a bit to get them to seat tightly. this was is the cherry on top of the grill.
Until I watched one of Don's videos a few days ago, I didn't know the background on this emblem was supposed to be black. The new one looks great and was easy to install. Makes the grill look much nicer than the old faded one.
So glad this is available. Careful removal of CAT from vacumm packing is required. Took me longer to remove the cat from the wrapping than to install on cover. Prongs line up perfectly and is easy to install. Only issue I had was it is NOT easy press the (4) spring clips on the prongs. I suggest removing the HL cover and placing it on a bench to temporarily get them started then use a small socket on a extention to press them on all the way.
The new version looks very nice and is a nice replacement for the slightly pitted and slightly faded original. I still need to install, but the video installation guide is very helpful.
Emblem is shipped in pieces and is not an actual assembly but everything is super simple to assemble yourself. Great fit, I did not have to trim any of the background decal to make it fit in the coral. You might have to take a small screw driver to bend out the clips a little to get a tighter hold on the cougar emblem. Can't wait to get it on my restored grill assembly.
