    Description

A very common breaking point on the upper portion of the driver side inner, can now be easily repaired. If you have a '68 or '69 Cougar or Mustang, check the driver seat back attachment for the recall / campaign fix. There should be a heavy bracket secured by a bolt over the seat back attachment. There is a heavy pin on this bracket that forms the pivot for the seat back when positioned forward. This bracket carries a D7AA-69618C46-A or D7ZZ-69618C46-A service replacement part number. Without this bracket, the front seat back pivot can break, allowing the seat back to fall rearward. Losing control this way leads to the sort of excitement you want to avoid! If you drive the car, put the bracket on soon! If you are selling the vehicle, at least inform the new owner of the situation.

Here's a helpful article on the seat back fix:

Just what the Dr ordered. Previous owner had drilled a hole and used a bolt. This bracket works much better

I bought my 69 Cougar in Jul of '09 as a retirement from the Army gift to myself. From day 1 it had intermittent heating problems that I tried to fix. I changed the radiator, thermostat, water pump, and added 2 12 in 1400 cfm electric cooling...

I have been a cougar owner for just shy of 30 years, I have been dealing with part problems for a very long time. The people at WCCC have always be honest, and overly helpfull. I now have a 1970 XR-7 mostly rebuilt, and my son has a 1968 base...
