    Description

This clock has had the original mechanical movement replaced with a modern, new quartz movement. You should get many years of trouble free accurate use out of this clock. The factory equipped movements were very unreliable and often quit after a couple years use. We now put a new lens in every rebuilt 1969-70 XR7 / Eliminator clock we sell. Not only has the movement and lens been changed but every part of this clock inside and out has been given attention. We have used several clock restorers over the years and have settled on one. Evey clock is done right the first time and as these photos show, pride in workmanship radiates!
Always remember to include a photocopy of your original invoice when seeking a core refund.

Quartz movement clocks have second hands that click around, original clocks had a constant sweep of the second hand.

I have never owned a classic car with a working electromechanical clock, and I have never had one fixed because of their poor reliability. I figured it would be a waste of time since it would only fail again. This rebuilt unit with quartz movement changed my mind. Since it uses the original Ford clock unit and connectors it was easy to install and it keeps perfect time. It's nice to finally have a beautifully restored clock that actually works.

The clock looks and fits great. But....it runs slow. In a 24 hour period it has been over an hour slow.

    Asked:
,Yes I am interested in clock 19523 with original movements which you state are far more reliable in the description. The original clock rebuilds15779 state the original movements are not very reliable. So I am confused. Is the quartz clock with original movement better? If so that's what I would prefer.

    Answer
    WCCC Admin Answered:
Choosing whether the quartz movement or the NOS/Original movement is the better option depends on what you are looking for. The quartz movement is much better at holding the correct time, but the seconds hand jerks when changing between seconds, and anyone who has seen an original clock will know it is not original. The NOS/Original movement clocks have a smooth movement seconds hand, it is constantly smoothly rotating around the face of the clock. The disadvantage of the NOS/Original movement is that they do not hold the correct time as well. So if you want the clock to look 100% original, you want the NOS/Original movement, but if you would rather have a clock that you can depend upon showing the correct time, you would want the quartz movement.
