    6 Cougar / 5 Mustang Applications

    Description

Due to time constraints, we can no longer offer the service of having your own mirror restored, this is now an exchange based service only.
Any mention of it in the video below is outdated, please disregard.

Restored rear view mirror lens for the 68 - 73 Mercury Cougar or Ford Mustang. Unlike our full price restored lenses, these require no core. These lenses look good at first, but if you look close you may see a scratch, tiny chip around the perimeter or discoloration in the lens. If your lens is broken and you can live with less than perfect, then this is an economical quick fix. We STRONGLY suggest you watch our "how to" video prior to attempting to remove your lens and send it in. During re-assembly, you don't really need to use glue because the mirror housing will hold the lens in place by itself. If anything, use a specialty mirror glue, because some glues (like silicone) can have a chemical reaction with the silver and cause discolored spots on your mirror in time.

*NOTE* This unit measures approximately 2-3/8 inches by 9-3/4 inches.

“-When mirrors are exposed to excess moisture, water can get between the layer of silver and the backing. This causes the bond to break and the silvering to chip off behind the glass. This leaves your mirror with unsightly dark spots or black edges where the silver has fallen away. ”

    Pros:
    • Excellent quality
    • perfect fit
    • FoMoCo quality
    Cons:
    • No cons
After watching the WCCC tutorial, I ordered a blemish mirror and hoped for the best.
I couldn’t find the blemish when I unpacked it.
My original glass came right out once warmed and worked the rim and popped the 4 original glue spots. Don’t forget to treat the original shell with armor all. It also lubes the install.
It took longer to insert. I used a hard plastic trim stick to carefully pry.
    Now it’s a new/old FoMoCo mirror for under $30.

    Pros:
    • Quality good enough for me
    Cons:
The description provided accurately describes the quality of the restoration of the mirror lens. The quality is good enough for a rear view mirror. No problem with installing the glass into the holder. I found using an old credit card as a tool works well to install the glass. The item was well packed for shipment.

Why am I being warned about potential exposure to chemicals in motor vehicle parts?

    • Some chemicals in motor vehicle parts are on the Proposition 65 list because they can cause cancer and/or birth defects or other reproductive harm.
    • When purchasing USED or NOS items, we do not know if listed chemicals are present in these products.
    • This product is known to contain the following listed chemicals: None
I have made many purchases online with WCCC but chose this time to make a 1400 mile round trip and visited them in person. I brought a van load of parts with me that needed a home. Don helped unload them then quickly assessed the value which I...
