Ford offered the 1973 Mercury Cougar hood emblem in two versions as a service replacement part. It is very rare to find them new in the box with the chrome center hood moulding, usually they are found without the chrome. This was found at the Spring 2007 Ford Carlisle show. This was an adhesive emblem and has long since fallen off most cars or was removed when the car was painted. This is one of the smallest "Cougar" emblems ever put on a Mercury Cougar. Only the 70-73 two spoke cat and xr7-G shift handle Cougar was smaller. It is also the most delicate! Very unusual to find the tail and all limbs intact on this fragile little kitty. Silver spray paint will make this cat look new again, they did not have a chrome finish from the factory. Now that we have reproduced this emblem there is little incentive to purchase this over-priced used emblem.

Found on the C pillars of a 1971 - 1973 Mercury Cougar XR7 Coupe. We rarely get good used examples of these emblems as they are always badly faded. These mount on the lower part of the roof behind the quarter windows. This part of the roof is also known as the 'C' pillar.

We can pretty much guarantee one if not both of the two mounting studs will be broken but because of the way it fits into the recess of the steering wheel pad, gluing it into place is not a problem. For 1971-73 Mercury Cougars and Ford Mustangs with the 351W engine manufactured after 10-26-1970. This is a Pitts manufactured pulley and clutch assembly with a pulley diameter of 6-5/16", a clutch diameter of 5-1/8", and an overall thickness of 1-11/16 inches. Ford part # D1OA-2981-A. May also have part numbers D1OA-2981-AA, D1OA-2981-A1A, D1OA-2981-A1B, D1OA-2981-A2A, and D1OA-2981-A2B.

This 1/2" tall unique little screw was used on several different trim parts on the early Mercury Cougars. In 1967 - 1968 there were eight per wheel lip moulding, two per fender extension moulding, two per center grille moulding and five per hood lip moulding for a total of 50 screws. In 1969-1973 they were used on the wheel lips mouldings. The 1971 - 1973 hood lip mouldings used the same screw but it was 5/8" tall.

Stainless steel throttle pedal surround trim. Self attaching to part number D1ZZ-9735-B. This used part may have some wear, but will not have broken tabs. Fine steel wool really shines these up. It appears that this trim may not have been used all the way through 1973. Ford probably eliminated it as a cost saving measure.

Used on front re-tractors, two per side on either side of the re-tractor mounting hole. Used to prevent rattles.

This vacuum actuated door assembly was used on several performance motors without Ram Air. When extra air was needed under heavy acceleration the vacuum actuator opened the door on the side of the air cleaner base. The actuator on this unit needs to be rebuilt so this is considered a good core only.

Used grade A near perfect dog dish style hubcap / Wheel Cover for the 1970 Mercury Cougar Eliminator. This same cap was standard equipment for the 1971-73 Mercury Cougar and was used with dealer installed trim rings when the optional 15x7" wheels were ordered on 1971-72 Cougars. Used trunk lock cylinder retainer clip for 1972 - 1973 Cougar. *Note - For use on cars built after 3-1-1972.

This is the factory Ford remote trunk latch as used on luxury cars such as Thunderbird or Lincoln. As you can see from the photo, they are made (and install) exactly like our Cougar trunk latches, but with the addition of a release tab. These can be installed to use either a cable, vacuum, or solenoid release.

Nice unused space saver spare tire for a Ford. Vintage Good Year brand tire with size F78-14. BF Goodrich is another common brand of tire installed for use with unique storage location, hold down, and inflation bottle. This one does not appear to have been inflated or used on the road. Still has the nubs on the face of the tire as shown.

New Old Stock Ford C4 or C6 transmission modulator valve for 1967-73 Mercury Cougar or 1965-73 Ford and Mustang. Also known as the throttle valve, this valve controls vacuum to the transmission as you press the gas pedal, and it will apply higher control pressure for better quality shifts at higher RPMs. Ford part number C4AZ-7A377-B.

Used servo cover from a 1971-73 Ford C-6 transmission. This cover has the big L cast into it, which designates it as an "L" Intermediate Servo Band Cover. Typically, this cover would be found on U code C6's, from 1971-73 Mercury Cougar and Ford Mustangs with H code 351C-2V engines.  Ford casting number C8VP-7D027-C.*Note - Not to be confused with X code FMX transmission which were more common on the H code 351C-2V engines from 1971-73.
