Due to time constraints, we can no longer offer the service of having your own mirror restored, this is now an exchange based service only.
Any mention of it in the video below is outdated, please disregard.
Restored rear view mirror lens for the 68 - 73 Mercury Cougar or Ford Mustang. Unlike our full price restored lenses, these require no core. These lenses look good at first, but if you look close you may see a scratch, tiny chip around the perimeter or discoloration in the lens. If your lens is broken and you can live with less than perfect, then this is an economical quick fix. We STRONGLY suggest you watch our "how to" video prior to attempting to remove your lens and send it in. During re-assembly, you don't really need to use glue because the mirror housing will hold the lens in place by itself. If anything, use a specialty mirror glue, because some glues (like silicone) can have a chemical reaction with the silver and cause discolored spots on your mirror in time.
*NOTE* This unit measures approximately 2-3/8 inches by 9-3/4 inches.
“-When mirrors are exposed to excess moisture, water can get between the layer of silver and the backing. This causes the bond to break and the silvering to chip off behind the glass. This leaves your mirror with unsightly dark spots or black edges where the silver has fallen away. ”
