This unit mounts on the main air chamber, it opens and closes the air vent. Made of nylon with a brass plunger. This unit is easy to test and can be seen by removing the glove box. Often it is the internal spring that fails on these and if your Cougar or Mustang will not easily change between blowing through the defrost ducts and the floor duct, this unit may be the culprit. Air conditioning fan blower BARE clam shell assembly for any 1971-73 Mercury Cougar or Ford Mustang with factory A/C. Assembly comes as shown: fiberglass two piece housing, flapper door, and a couple of clips to hold it together. Grade B used will have a minor stress crack, and or small chips. Used vacuum actuator for controlling dampers and levers on the different year A/C boxes. This is a bare vacuum valve, that does not have the screwed on extension which make the unique part numbers from the Ford MPC. Tested and holds vacuum. These came in several different anodized colors. All bare sheet metal steel construction starting in 1971 until 1973. This is the basic valve with a single vacuum port. There are other versions with an extra vacuum port on the side.

Good used grommet that seals the heater hoses and A/C lines where they pass through the firewall on the passenger side. Made from a spongy rubber, attaches to the heater core and seals the firewall from the inside. This grommet does not use a retaining bracket like previous years. Will be intact, but will show some degradation as shown in the picture, most evident where the heater core tubes pass through. Engineering # D1ZZ-19B588-A.
