This clips affixes the plastic speedometer gear to the cable. Some have found that this OEM original clip fits a little better than the reproduction we offer. *Trivia* Did you know the first Cougar cast for production in 1968 was this "Custom Cougar"? This fine example was offered up on ebay summer 2008 for a mere $6500.

This can be used on 1973 cars, Ford did switch to a different alternator bracket that tightened the alternator from the back sometime in 1973.
