Pros:
  • Getting in & out is much easier.
  • It looks gorgeous & feels even better.
  • Using the horn is faster & more natural.
  • The ergonomics are 1000% better.
  • Smaller diameter
  • easier to operate.
Cons:
  • The horn button requires fitting.
  • Its probably not OEM at all.
  • You must own or buy dremel tool.

This overall is a very nice steering wheel. It looks wonderful, feels even better in your hand & improves ergonomics a lot. The smaller diameter makes it much easier to get in & out of the driver's seat, which is helpful to larger people like myself. I'm 6'2".

There is one little glitch. The horn button is VERY tight fitting. If you honk the horn, it won't return outward & it won't stop honking. This is easily fixed by using a dremel tool to go around the inner housing & increase the diameter 1/16th of an inch or until it moves freely. Release the 3 clips at the back & use a tiny bit of silicone spray when reinstalling so it doesn't feel rough.

You can't use the thicker factory spring unless you're Hercules because it's so stiff you can't push it down, even with both hands. I'm a 6'2" tall man. You must enlarge the opening, but not by much.

Go ahead & just buy a steering wheel puller & dremel tool when you get this. The fix, however, is just a minor annoyance. There are no extra parts. Be especially mindful installing those 2 pins & clip at the back. AFAIK this horn isn't OEM either as original or reproduction, but so what? It adds a wonderful upgrade, rock solid, that you'll appreciate each time you enter, drive, & leave your cougar.

It's absolutely worth getting. The 1967 wheel looks identical but is a separate part number. My vehicle is a 1968 base model.
