Three wire tachometer for 67 - 68 Cougar. Ford wired their early (pre ‘74) tachometers so that they are part of the ignition circuit. What this means is that if the tachometer goes bad, the engine shuts OFF. It also means that you must either replace it with another series type tachometer with 35+ year old circuitry or install a jumper wire to bypass the tach. Works for all generations 1967-68, 1969-70, and 1971-73 Ford anything and Mercury, and Mercury Cougar with factory tachometers.
