    7 Cougar / 7 Mustang Applications

    Description

If your are missing your factory Riv-Nuts, or you are installing a passenger side mirror, these are a very easy to use alternative to the metal riv-nuts we offer. Another good application for these is when your existing mirror mounting holes are "hogged out" these slightly over sized inserts are just the ticket. Keep in mind our kit is not only less money than others you may find but the screws are stainless steel. Hole size for these rubber inserts is 3/8". Keep in mind the upper lip stands a little too tall so it will in many cases need to be ground down a little so your mirror base sits flush to the mirror mounting pad.

    Replaces Ford part #: C7AZ-17696.

"I have checked out this website several times and it is a great source for information and these guys know what they are talking about. They are friendly and willing to help with your problems or questions. One amazing thing about these guys... Sometimes a repro part is not quality, but it is the only one available. THESE GUYS will actually SAY so! Negative reviews of the some of the parts they sell are not unheard of, neither are comments telling you NOT to do something to you car. It is very refreshing to know that the guy selling you a part knows when it is bad and is going to tell you so. They won't offer the inferior reproductions if a quality one is available, which does make me wonder... Who else has the quality ones and who sells the inferior ones?"

I AM A VERY SATISFIED CUSTOMER! Dan B. Okanogan, WA.

    Pros:
    • no special tools needed except for drill
    Cons:
    • rivet is troublesome to get to work.
    • doesn't fit mirror gasket.
The rubber rivets are VERY prone to deformation. Some better instructions would be helpful.

First, it's essential that the rivets sit flush with the mirror gasket, not on top. The rubber gasket hole must be enlarged for this to happen.

Eventually I got them to work, but it took all afternoon. Having a spare rivet, or perhaps just doing a set of 4 would help mitigate any issues.

It's probably best to find another way to mount the mirror, even if you have to buy one or two special tools instead.

These also make it very difficult to mount the mirror straight on its gasket. The thickness of these plus the lack of clearance where the rear screw goes is the cause.

With better instructions, these gotchas could be avoided. That's the root cause of the problem.

Good product, wish it worked. It would have made the job much simpler. But...the rubber had too large of a diameter to fit inside the holes in the door. Couldn't use them. The fit and correctness should be 0, but the site did not allow it.
