Just about the only possible reason to put this poor quality reproduction on your Cougar is that it is a good tool to put out engine fires. No Joke! If you happen to have an engine fire you can carefully open your hood, yank the blanket downward and smother the fire by pushing the blanket tight around the area that is burning. This can at least buy you time until a fire extinguisher is located. How do I know? I saved a very pristine 1974 XR7 a few years ago this way! This inexpensive product...

These original hood blanket clips grip much better than the reproductions. Usually there were 10-11 of these clips used but it can vary from car to car as they tended to be inconsistent at the factory on how many of the available holes they actually stuck a clip into. Sold Individually.

This "D" clip is larger than that found on the Mustangs and 1967 Cougar because it not only hung the wiring loom on the driver side of your engine compartment but also the vacuum lines going to the headlight switch. This clip is also found under the starter solenoid and under dash. We think that it is Ford part number 382184.

With today's gas, these commonly fail, especially when sitting for extended periods of time. Complete failure will cause fuel leaks, but many times these will affect performance well before a leak actually starts. Good idea to replace every few years or if sitting for 6 months or more.
