    2 Cougar / 2 Mustang Applications

    Description

Used fixed idler bracket and pulley assembly with new installed bearing for 1968-69 Cougars and Mustangs with the 390 or 428CJ engine. This part will have a small bearing on the pulley and is not marked with a casting number. The 1970 bracket and pulley assembly was a service replacement part and are the same as the 68-69 with the exception of a slightly larger bearing. This later service replacement part is an economically priced service replacement for the earlier originals. All pulleys come with new bearings.
We also offer a bearing replacement service to rebuild your 390 / 428CJ fixed idler pulley, see item 27539.

*Note* All new bearings will have a slight bit of play in them. This is by design, by the manufactures. We have asked the suppliers, and the answer is to allow for possible heat expansion. Even the "Koyo" branded ones, which were used starting in 1968, now have an ever so slight amount of play.

    Ford part # C8AZ-8678-B.

I bought my 69 Cougar in Jul of '09 as a retirement from the Army gift to myself. From day 1 it had intermittent heating problems that I tried to fix. I changed the radiator, thermostat, water pump, and added 2 12 in 1400 cfm electric cooling...
