It's a small thing but seems to make a big difference. Great little investment along with the export brace. Had to trim it up a bit to make it fit but nothing crazy
As you can see in my picture, once front end was all cleaned up, I had two cracks in the shock tower on the upper left of the picture above where the reinforcement plate was welded in. This 67 Cougar XR7 was completely stripped to bare metal and then these plates were welded in. It has been 7 years since these plates were added and no issues since. It is a great peace of mind to have these strengthening plates in place. I am not a welder, so I had a welder do the work and you cannot tell they were added. I highly recommend these reinforcement plates if you are doing any front end work at all. I also have the export brace in place.
I am extremely satisfied with the weld in plates for the shock towers for a 67. The fit and material were excellent. This was an easy task as I already had all the front suspension removed for replacement.
I installed these plates at the same time that a Shelby drop was performed on a 67 Std, Great fit and can be installed by a novice welder just make sure you get good weld penetration. Doesn't have to look great, it's pretty much hidden by the control arm and spring. This upgrade is a must if you drive the corners with any enthusiasm. Recommend weld-thru primer on the backside. Cheap insurance for structural protection of the shock towers.
Look good, Thick Material. Also video available to show installation.
Precise fit-up. I cant say enuf about how perfectly these plates fit. Only had to bevel edges to prep for weld, no other alterations at all. Extremely pleased with the fitment, material. Thanks a ton.
Fit right in.nice and clean.
pleased with the items, cant wait to install.
the Shock tower reinforcement plates are quaility pieces made of thick stock, able to resist the forces applied at the shock towers and provide a long service life.
works great to add some strength to your shock towers and to help keep them from cracking or re-cracking, of course it does take some grinding and welding in order to fit and install but its totally worth it.
