I’ve had a couple of replacement sets of hinges on my 70 over the last 30 years and these dont even compare. The old style cheap replacement hinges are just that, cheap. These things are built like a tank. Last pair you’ll probably ever buy. They fit well and operate roller bearing smooth. The hood opening angle is much more than any of the others that have been on the car. No more banging my noggin on the nose of the hood. My high school auto mechanics teacher would acally like this car now. If your not building a concourse car these are the way to fly!
Easy to install, great finish - didn't need to paint Old springs were easy to reinstall onto the new hinges Safe - I no longer worry about having the hood open at a show. Helped with hood alignment issues.
These hood hinges are thicker and heavier than the stock ones on a 67 cougar. Fit is perfect with some necessary adjustments and old springs go fine
I highly recommend these, especially if you have a worn hinge. Even if they aren't worn these are much sturdier and smoother working than the originals. Hood alignment went well, my passenger hinge did have some play in it and would always sit a bit high when I closed the hood. I always had to give it a little push to get it level with fender and cowl. New hinges sit perfect and hood seems to close smoother. Like I said up top, there is way less side to side wiggle (when hood is up) so hinges are much sturdier.
High quality replacement hinges superior to OEM. Almost twice has heavy and looks factory when installed. Controls hood vibration at highway speeds. Would be nice if there were a chromed option for these.
For once they finally did a repop worth the time & money. Put a set of these on and within 15 minutes you should have your hood adjusted. No pushing down at the rear of the hood to make if flush!
These fit perfectly and operate flawlessly - I might need better springs to maximize their usefulness - they allow for a greater opening range on the 1970 XR7 so hopefully I won't hit my head on the nose anymore -(I can't believe I still do that after 35 years with these cars). Gave my son a set for his 70 and its the best hood alignment and fit his has ever had. Much sturdier than original hinges and so much smoother in action. Thanks for carrying these, Don.
Much better than the CRAP repro hinges that were previously in the car. No popping up of the hood after you spend hours aligning the hood perfectly.
This is by far the best purchase i have made from WCCC. These hinges have fixed a lot of alignment issues. Back of the hood sitting too high, and too far forward. No adjustments could be made to remedy. These hinges fixed both of the issues. The hood even has better response, and easier to lift. Sits nice and flush with great spacing. Tip: Take springs off before removing old hinges. Lower the hood almost all the way down (enough to slide your hand in). Insert spacers (ie bolts or pieces of metal) while the spring is expanded. Then let the hood back up. The spring should be easy to remove. Add more spacers if needed. Set to side and set back in place after installing new hinges. Also. This is easiest with 3 people. one on each hinge, and one in front.
Fit was spot on and they are easy to install and they fixed my hood issues.
