    5 Cougar Applications

Designed for Cougar but will work in many other applications using similar flasher units.

    Description

When your lights are sequencing too rapidly, causing the outer light to not fully illuminate, your original unit is most likely the culprit. This solid state unit replaces the small red (69-70) or green (71-73) flasher found under the dash, next to the radio.

NOTE* Some vehicles have the wiring reversed, you can get though this problem by using spades and hooking up to the contacts of the flasher backwards.

This is the updated flasher unit for use with the updated sequential unit and Plasma Led's.

Replaces Ford part # D0WY-13350-A or D0WY-13350-C when using LED turn signal bulbs.

*NOTE* Need help diagnosing a Cougar turn signal problem? Victor Yarberry is the world’s most knowledgeable expert on the subject. Vic has owned Cougars since the 1970's and is the designer of all of our solid state sequential systems. There is no question he cannot answer! Here is a link to a great source of information on the subject.

1969-1973 Cougar owners: This is one of the components that you'll need in order to use our Plasma LED taillight bulbs in your car with the sequential turn signal system.

Installed in my 1973 XR-7. It comes with instructions which I needed. I plugged them in but didn't work and the instructions advise that if this happens you need to reverse the wires (polarity) at you plug or fabricate 2" jumper cables. I opted to make the jumper cables because my connectors didn't extend long enough for me to easily work on removing the wires from the connector plus I didn't want to damage my connector. To fabricate jumper cables just obtain (4) male and female 1/4" disconnects and (4) 2" length of 16 gauge wire. Crimp the wires to the disconnects and you will have 4 jumper cables. Once done they easily tuck away under the dash and hidden behind the glove box. Note: My emergency flasher was located to the right of the radio and the turn signal was under the right side of the glove box. Both easily accessible once the glove box was removed.

I have reduced the ratings because a 5 star rating would mean the shape would be round like original cans to snap into the holders. Otherwise they work great.....A change to the installation is needed also. It was much easier to just unpin the wires from the plugs with a small eyeglass screwdriver and swap them to be the correct polarity vs. making the wiring adapters mentioned....i had to change mine on the emergency flasher can.

I bought my 69 Cougar in Jul of '09 as a retirement from the Army gift to myself. From day 1 it had intermittent heating problems that I tried to fix. I changed the radiator, thermostat, water pump, and added 2 12 in 1400 cfm electric cooling...
