Export Brace fit perfect without any modifications. took about 1 hour and was done. Had to raise car up and down to get shock towers to move a bit to have holes line up.All in all went nicely. Very happy with the part.

  • Ina stall time.
Slow start as I tried to install one side at a time after removal of two original brackets. As they won't sit down in place over shock tower ends don't install firewall bolts first which I thought would be the simple way to start. Once you juggle the two ends into place and start those three bolts and pin plate at each end, the firewall bolts went easily into holes. Guess no sag in my car as others noted.

Nice part. Heavy duty! Be prepared if your 50 year old car is sagging a bit installation is going to be fun. Watch some good videos on how others do it. I only gave fit 4 stars because it don't really specify that your standard bolts with the big washers at the fire wall don't work well with these. The big washers don't fit tight against the piece due to hitting the ribs in the brace. Apparently your suppose to use just a plain headed bolt with now washer.

  • Hit or miss fitment…
I tried one of these on two different low milage 1970 Pony Cars and it was not close to fitting either one. I would have to have spread my shock towers at least half an inch using some brute force method. Then I think to myself, gee if both cars have settled comfortably into this position with new tires and recent front end alignments, why do a I want to change the front end geometry just to fit this one-size-fits-all part? Instead, I decided to buy an export brace that will fit and lock down my front end in its current happy position. I bought Global West’s export brace which is way more substantial and actually fits the car with slotted holes for the shock tower stud attachment. I also don’t believe that if this part does not fit it’s necessarily, or only because your shock towers have settled. I think the allowable manufacturing tolerances are also at play.

My shock towers were sagging inward, and this really holds them where they should be. I needed to use a drift pin to get the holes to line up on the shock tower. It was a fairly simple install.

I purchased this along with the mounting plate (#11330). I can't say that it was as easy as the other reviews, but I was able to finally get it on. I had to get a bottle jack and some pipe to spread the shock towers about 3/4". That part was easy compared to getting the holes to line up on the firewall lip. That took a bit more persistence and work. After install, it drives much better and feels more stable.

**Side note** This did not fit well with the oval air cleaner.
