It’s really nice to have the inside turn signals flashing again, after I upgraded to the exterior LED’s. This is literally and plug-and-play upgrade for any Cougar owner. It does seem a little expensive for this one relay, but it is nice to have everything working as it did originally in the car. The clicking sound is a nice touch, just like the old days!
My original worked fine with incandescent bulb. Once I installed the Plasma LED taillight bulbs, I would (almost) get 1 "click / flash" then the dash indicators were steady. Externally, the lights, including LED front turn signals, worked as they were supposed to. But it was irritating having the steady light on the dash. Got this installed...Works PERFECT. It does take a bit of physical maneuvering to get access to the relay, but 15 minutes later...It was worth it!
This part has stopped the fade off of indicator flasher on instrument panel but disappointing is the clicking sound, no way loud enough, can't hear it with window down in traffic etc..
Easy to install. Works great. Sounds reasonably close to stock during operation.
I have to say I winced at the price, but then again I live in the past and grumble about $6.99 wines being $15.99 now. This substitute relay solves your problem just exactly as described! Your biggest problem will be seeing clearly at the peculiar distance of 8 to 12 inches if you wear progressives. Seriously, try some drug store glasses instead. The two screws aren't that hard to get to; grab your finest 1/4 drive ratchet so you can finesse the two 1/4 hex head screws. You will have to navigate around or disconnect nearby stuff for better access. This is a valuable item that works right the first try. You'll feel even more cool if you don't remove the wrong relay first, like I did.
I installed LEDs on my car so my indicator lights in the dash just stayed on. This thing makes a nice click sound and finally my indicators work like they should.
This really brought the click-click back into my dashboard turn signal indicators. For some odd reason, the tilt away steering wheel also started flipping to the right on its own. Before you'd have to push it that way. Who knew that they were related? Also, if anything else is grounded to or around this switch, be sure it stays that way.
