Weatherstrip / Seal - Rear Window - Repro ~ 1969 - 1970 Mercury Cougar

As others have mentioned, this seal is too thick. I had my glass professionally installed, and their fix was to shave off about 1/8" of the seal with a razor blade. While this improved the fit significantly, the trim still is above the body in several places.

This is in no way a criticism of WCCC, as they have been very helpful, and I am sure they will continue to work with suppliers to improve product quality.

 

The add warns you up front that this weatherstrip is meatier than the originals. The extra thickness makes it difficult to replace the trim/moulding; probably why the clips I bought didn't work well. The rubber is good quality and, all-in-all, it fit ok.

Seal is too high. Without repositioning the clips and reworking the rubber seal in the upper side window area, it is not possible to fix the trim strips. The adjustable clips weren't the solution either. I had to do the whole thing 3 times until I was able to mount the trim with the repositioned clips and the reworked seal. (I cut the gasket in the upper side areas with a scalpel so that the gasket is about 2mm lower).3 times a real mess, 3 seals used. I don't recommend doing this alone.

rice replacement stripping when replacing rear glass. did not fit perfect as others have stated, causing chrome to not quite fit tight. however no leaks and should be able to modify a bit to get tighter fit

The seal is made of good material and looks like OEM, but I was told in product description that this wouldn't fit well and it didn't. The channel that sits on the metal edge doesn't seem deep enough to fit well where the sheet metal overlaps. This cause the seal to choke up and roll back especially near the corners. it was impossible to get several of the trim clips to latch because the seal was too high at several points near the corners.
