    Description

Converting your headlight wiring to a modern relay type is probably one of the best 'bang for the buck' mods you can do to your classic car. A must when using modern halogen bulbs, it will also brighten your original incandescent headlights.

Normally this is done by cutting the main wiring harness and splicing in a pair of relays. Most of us try to hide the relays under or behind something as well. Not only is this a time consuming task, it can be troublesome if a connection or component fails and you have no lights!

This relay kit can be installed in less than 1 hour without cutting your harness. Not only that, it can be easily removed for shows or if it should ever fail. The kit also has built-in redundancy that virtually guarantees that you will never be in the dark.

These kits were originally developed for 67-70 Cougars and Mustangs but will also work on most Ford Motor Company vehicles produced in the 60s and 70s without modification

This Relay Kit has everything that the mini kit has, but where as the mini kit is designed to handle 4 - 50W bulbs, this kit can handle the higher wattage bulbs (up to 4 - 100W) used outside of the USA.

Included in kit: Two weatherproof controllers, one 40A auto-reset circuit breaker, power wire, crimp-on connectors and easy to follow instructions.

    Benefits:

    • Easy to install, and no cutting. Plug in the controllers, run a power feed and you're done.
    • Redundancy. Each headlight - High, Low, Left, Right has it's own relay and each side has it's own controller.
    • Each 40/60 Amp 12 Volt sealed relay has Negative Spike Protection built in. This means no spikes or feedback to upset delicate electronics.
    • Each controller contains an internal auto resetting circuit breaker to isolate left and right sides.
    • If a controller goes bad, the other controller will continue to power the other side.
    • The single feed wire is easily hidden and the controllers can be removed for car shows if desired.
    • Compact size - each controller is only 3"x2"x1.5".
    • Kit comes with a 40A auto resetting circuit breaker to power up to 4 halogen lamps at 10A each.
*Note: It is the responsibility of the purchaser to ensure that the headlight wiring is sufficient to carry the amperage required by the installed lamps.

Recommended bulbs: Direct replacement halogen bulbs are available from most car parts stores as #5001 (low beam - outer) and #5006 (high beam - inner) for 4 headlight systems

A great update for a classic Cougar. Straight forward installation and really is plug and play. This completes the lighting update for my 68. I couldn’t be happier.

Not difficult to install. Easy to find a spot to hide the relays so they're not obvious at car shows. No need to cut or splice wires, so that makes it easy to install (or to later uninstall should a future owner prefer authenticity over practicality).

However, one of the relays in my kit was bad so I had to send it back for replacement. Once I got the replacement, however, I'm very pleased with the much brighter and whiter halogen bulbs.

I installed this on my 1969 XR 7 that is a low mileage original paint driver. I need to do something to upgrade the wiring and lighting for safety purposes if I was to drive this at night and use it as planned for regular trips and short vacations. The unit installed easliy and works great with as set of halogen bright white glass headlight bulbs.
