    2 Cougar Applications

    Description

Excellent reproduction of the passenger side 1967-68 Mercury Cougar "Cougar XR7" dash panel emblem. Nice reproduction with locating pins that attach to the woodgrain dash panel on the passenger side of all 1967-68 XR7's (excludes the special edition XR7-G models). You can view the photo above for a comparison between the satin and chrome versions.

The factory originally installed these emblems onto the woodgrain steel panel, and melted over the pins to the back. The rear section of that woodgrain panel had a green foam sheet stuck over the back prior to fastening to the plastic backing panel. We believe this padding was an anti-rattle measure.

A couple of ways you as a Cougar owner can attach these emblems:

    1. Complete disassembly of the dash, we would suggest cementing the pins to the back of the woodgrain panel.

    2. Carefully lift off the old emblem without marring or scratching the woodgrain and use trim adhesive sparingly to attach the new emblem to the face of the dash.

We also offer this emblem with chromed 'XR 7' lettering.

This emblem looks very good. My original was not in real bad shape. I was surprised how much sharper this emblem looks compared even to a decent original.
