    Description

Restored six piece anodized aluminum front moulding / trim set for the Mercury Cougar. We suggest you make the order online and then send your cores with a copy of your invoice. Once your cores arrive we will ship the restored set.  If you do not have good cores we do have them for sale. These restored original trim parts have the correct satin "bright dip" anodized finish and look like NOS! We have sold hundreds of these trim parts to Cougar owners all over the world, many of which are "show" cars. This set is offered at a great price and is better quality than many NOS trim parts that have 40 years of shelf wear.

*NOTE* This unit carries a $150 refundable core charge. If you are unable to return your core within 30 days after the initial purchase, your refund will be in store credit only. If you have an unacceptable core, we have a core option for you in this moulding / trim section. Keep in mind we buy most trim and mouldings found on a Cougar.

If you select this option (paying a core charge), we will randomly select mouldings off the shelf. Paying the core charge does not mean you will get the best of the best, we just assume you don't have cores and will send pieces that possibly might not meet your standards. If you feel that you have nice cores, it would benefit you to send them in advance so that we can core match, which means you get better quality.

Hello Everyone, Don doesn't know I'm doing this, but I'm going to do a little "advertising" for him on the aluminum restoration offered on his web site. I just got my 1967 - 1968 six piece front trim set back, and while the pictures on the site of the finished product are pretty good, you can't really appreciate the work unless you see it in person. It's flawless... If anyone out there has been considering spending the $$$ to do this, just go for it! I didn't think my original trim looked too bad before, considering it was 40 years old and had 90,000 plus miles of wear and tear, but if you're like me and feel your paint job was money well spent, this little addition makes that paint just pop. Thanks Don! You guys at WCCC are the BEST! Mark

By the way, brief update, the 6 piece aluminum front trim you fixed me up with a year back or so still looks like new even after around 6000 miles and numerous bug cleanings for car shows. I'm very happy with the results. I see you have kept my comments about them on your web-site. I wouldn't change a word!!!! Thanks again for all you do for our hobby!!Mark Kinrade 10-6-09

When sending us your core(s), we will need a copy of your invoice. Or at the very least, your invoice number which is located at the top left corner of your original invoice. We will also need the date of your purchase.

Once you have your trim cores packed, we suggest that you take them outside and throw them up into the air as high as you can. After your box lands, jump on it. If you do not think that it will survive, you have not packed it well enough. We have discovered that this type of abuse is typical with shipping. We are not responsible for any damages that may occur in shipping.

Do not send us pretzel shaped parts, parts you have attempted to fix yourself, or flattened out parts. We need trim parts showing only MINOR dents, dings, dullness, or scratches.

If you have viewed our video on how to determine if your core is acceptable and still have further questions, please fill out our contact form and we will help you evaluate your trim cores.

    Pros:
    • Deep Rich finish
    • Virtually a Like new finish
    • Major update to your front end finish
    Cons:
    • Very Minor fitment differences.
    • these differences are expected
Each year I put aside some funds to do one or two upgrades. I have been wanting to update this front trim for years. The difference between Old and New cannot be described. Amazing difference!!! Night and Day/ Black and White.

Beautiful!!! If I had just known the difference that these make I would have done this years ago.
Yes this update is a bit pricey. However I have learned that when parts like this are available you have to Reach out and grab them. To me these are very specialized, very delicate parts that one cannot find just anywhere. Thanks Don for what your team does with the infinite detail items like this.

    Trim pieces..
All Pieces came in as Rich Deep virtually Flawless Finishes. Like before Amazing.
There will be slight fitting differences due to the way all of these cars were manufactured. However, nothing but just minor fitment opportunities. Nothing that one without any experience cannot massage into a perfect fit.
I would highly recommend these restored pieces. The time to change out is not that long either.

Hint: You can replace the original screws. However original screws are stainless. A light weight steel brush will make them like band new again. I was going to replace screws however after brushing the old. They looked new again. I put them back on.

Now next year I will replace the Rear Trim on trunk lid and Back Cap ends. If they are as good as these they will be Beautiful as well.

    Thanks again.

The only way to go for trim!

    Pros:
    • correct bright dip anodizing!
    Cons:
    • had to send back a couple sections
These are not cheap but they are worth every penny for the simple fact its the correct way to restore the trim using the bright dip anodizing process. You wont find a local shop to do this in a small one off set of trim. I could have had them polished but I dont want to worry about trim ever again so in my opinion this is the only way to go. I sent my cores in ahead of time to get a good core match in return. I did have to tweak a couple pieces to get to fit the car correctly, only minor correction was needed to sit on the body which is somewhat normal. I also had a issue with the hood pieces not meeting my expectations based on the cores I sent in ahead of time. They had some good pitting on the back side that I know would have bugged me when the hood was open. I sent Don a couple pictures and an explanation and he quickly had me send them back for the exchange for better matching cores no questions asked! I did pay the shipping back to him and he covered the replacements on his end. Im sure he would have covered shipping on my end if I would have asked but the no hassle exchange was good enough for me.

After the last show I was in, I noticed that the front trim on my '67 was just not "up to snuff." So, I ordered the full 6 piece kit. Installation was easy and it looks great on the car. I haven't yet sent my cores back in, so I hope I get full credit, but I will just have to wait and see.
