Used lateral or side bracket for mounting the steering column to the instrument panel on any 1972-73 Mercury Cougar or Ford Mustang. Metal reinforcing plate welded to the center of the rear body, where the 9 inch third member may come into contact with the floor. Cut from one of our many parts cars. Likely originally had a Ford part number of 4731. Removed from a 1971-73 Mercury Cougar, we suspect that it will not be a direct fit for a Mustang.This part will come as shown, spot welds will need to be drilled and the plate welded to your chassis.

Used corner cut from a 1971-73 Mercury Cougar. This would be the passenger side where the quarter extension and bumper filler mount. Stainless screw, most correct looking we have found. In 1967 - 1968 there were eight per wheel lip moulding, two per fender extension moulding, two per center grille moulding and five per hood lip moulding for a total of 50 screws. Same as our crinkle finished Mercury Cougar valve covers but with a polished finish. These are rarely in stock so do not be surprised if our system will not let you order. We get these from Scott Drake and the only reason they polish a few sets a year is when they find a set of black covers that have a defect, they send them in to be polished. So... This 1/2" tall unique little screw was used on several different trim parts on the early Mercury Cougars. You will notice the reproduction has a larger head (The two on the right in the lower picture are repros) than both of the used versions typically found on 67-73 Cougars.
