Fit and and function wise this is the same as the 1968 - 1973 XR7 button. However if you want 100% correctness then the 1967 button is different and there are no reproductions for this exact button. Cougar actually used a larger ribbed plate on manual transmission cars without a console but this Mustang part is an inexpensive alternative. The rubber shift boot screws to the transmission tunnel, carpet then goes over it and lastly this retainer slips over the boot and hides the cut edges of your carpet.
