I believe that the WCCC website incorrectly omits this part as correct for the 1970 XR-7. After ordering part number 26150, which was listed for all 1970 cougars, I found it to be too large diameter and a different profile than mine. I returned it and ordered this part because it looked correct in the picture and when I received it...A perfect match. WCCC should correct this in the applications section of this part and the other part. It should state "Except 1970 XR-7" for part 26150 and it should say "Also for 70 XR-7" for this part...
Looks fantastic and fit perfectly. I also purchased the retaining nut tool and didn't have to modify it to tighten this piece on. I didn't tighten it to much more than snug, so perhaps that's why no modification was needed to get a good bite.
This fit great and looks really nice. It's not quite original since the tool doesn't quite fit it, but I'm not doing a concours car, so no problem.
mine was missing and this one fits and works exactly as it should.
Ok...got the new piece, looked amazing 👏 bought a new tool to remove the original, worked perfectly! Went to install new ring and the new tool doesn't come close to fitting in the groves! I had to take a file and open all four groves! Not cool. I guess that's why there called REPRODUCTION PARTS! Finally, after some time and hand work it's good.
