Pros:
  • period correct
  • quality restore
Cons:
my 1968 cougar had the original deck lid moulding, but this center part was badly damaged. (this could be a typical damage from rear-end collisions.) some repair of the aluminum moulding was attempted by the previous owner, but badly damaged alu parts are almost impossible to repair/restore to an even acceptable condition.

replacing the aluminum part with the later model's (1969-70) stainless steel moulding was not really an option for me. (1968 model has three-part moulding, the later model only this single center part. so the aluminum side mouldings of 1968 can not be replaced with similar stainless steel part from later model. although stainless steel is more practical, i did not want a different, mixed look of part stainless steel, part aluminum mouldings.)

so the original, damaged moulding was replaced with this nice, restored one. it is really a nice quality restore, and a proper fit.
