Perfect color and texture for our Cougars. Black is the only color that is consistent throughout the interior. If you are doing a blue, red or other color interior, be sure to buy different brands of the same color paint to get an authentic variation. The factory supplied parts from multiple suppliers and unless it was black, the colors varied, sometimes significantly.
I haven't used this particular Landau Black, but the Shadow Blue I ordered from Don worked very well and was a near-perfect color match for my 69 XR7 Convertible. I had to reconstruct a center console for my car, which is white leather with blue trim, and the console itself was brittle, cracked, and unsalvageable. I got a good console base off of eBay, and cleaned the daylights out of it. After a final wipe with a clean rag and rubbing alcohol, I began a series of light misting coats in Shadow Blue SEM Color Coat. I painted the underside first to make sure the color was what I wanted. It used the bulk of two cans to do the console, the lower dash trim and couple of other bits, but I was very pleased with the results. Whether it is a spot-on match is in the eye of the beholder, but since there were so many different suppliers, I don't know how anyone can claim one shade to be 100% correct. The secret is to clean it VERY well and be prepared to waste a lot of the product in overspray. However, this is a good method for those who do not want to go through the hassle of getting colors mixed at a paint shop, or don't have the required spray equipment. I am trying the parchment paint next for the lower dash and will review how it turns out. I'll also come back and do a "Long-term" review a year or so of driving down the road to see how it holds up.
