Removed the old and just installed the new. Works, fits and looks great.
Works great and original looks.
Works great.
Just a warning, if you have your original switch, there is a little more than just reusing your original spacer. It is tack welded on. I had to grind mine off of the original switch and then drill a couple of hole in it and weld it to the new one. Kind of a pain, but it works perfectly.
I have only been able to find the correct switch for the 1967 @ WCCC. Other outlets will sell you one for a Mustang or a later model Cougar, and assure you it will work ... it will not. Don't be fooled

Shipped a Napa, P/N HL6038 (one of two parts on Napa's web site). Shipped quickly I have a '67 Cougar and bought this switch because the headlight switch knob/rod came out in my hand and I couldn't get it to stay put in the switch, thus being without headlights. Though identified as for a '71-'73 Cougar, the application guide indicated it would work with a '67. Well, yes and no. The switch overall fits perfectly. However, the triangular shaped headlight switch rod from my '67 did not fit through the (too small) opening in plastic part with the triangular hole and the metal rotation stops. I took the two switches apart and found all parts were identical in form factor (the conical spring is a little longer and stiffer in the new switch), so I swapped the nonfitting plastic part for the older one and used the new conical spring. This took a few fumbling attempts, but I eventually learned a couple tricks to make it work. Probably would've had an easier time of it if I'd used a hobby vise to hold the switch while I assembled it, instead of just using my hands out at the car on the street.
