I bought this for my 70 XR7. I needed a new tank with a drain plug, so had to order the stainless tank. Not correct since Cougars didn't come with SS tanks, but you could always overspray it to look more like the galvanized original tank. Word to the wise: install the fuel sender BEFORE mounting the tank in the car. Getting the o-ring to stay in position while installing the fuel sender after the tank is installed is a royal pain in the rear. Good quality tank. Expect to have to work a bit to get the screw holes lined up. You might need to readjust the locking tabs a bit to get the locking ring on the fuel sender to seat tightly. At least no more worries about a tank getting rusty from condensation moisture.
