    Description

This is an upgraded version from what you see in our video but the idea is the same. This tool has a square hole so you can use your 3/8" drive ratchet or breaker bar to get the correct angle and have even better control of your leverage when placing the torsion bar into the slot.

Used to remove the hinge springs (torsion rods) off the 1967 - 1973 Cougar or Mustang. No more trying to remove with the wrong tools . These can be tricky to remove without this tool.

Will not work on 1964 - 1966 Mustangs.

Here is a helpful youtube video on how to adjust your trunk lid.

Check out our installation video below. We were using the older L-shaped version of the tool, but the same information still applies:

    Pros:
    • works easily when you have the right rod
    Cons:
If you think you can put replacement torsion rods in without this you have a lot of frustration coming. BUY THE TOOL. I followed the directions in the video and ended up putting LH rod on RH side and vice versa on other side (this was incorrect on my part). Didn't fit well and didn't hold the trunk. Bought a replacement used set from WCCC. they didn't work either. Then I tried swapping the rods side to side and it worked in two minutes and was a whole lot easier.

A handy too for this annoying task. Not the same as the one in the video. You have to use a 3/8" ratchet or breaker bar for this one, which makes it awkward until you figure out which way to turn it. That's why 4/5 on correctness. Otherwise, a sturdy chunk of metal that works well.
