    Description

This 2-1/4 inch dual exhaust system is manufactured right here in the good old USA from an original 1970 M code 351C 2V equipped Cougar. This direct replacement system includes: 1 H pipe, 2 intermediate pipes, 2 mufflers, and a right and left tail pipe. The system is constructed from 2-1/4 inch aluminized piping and features blue printed bends with everything being replicated as close as possible to the original. The mufflers in the system have the hanging tabs attached so that they will accept original muffler hangers. H pipes are constructed for use with original stock cast iron exhaust manifolds and H pipes can also be purchased separately.

*NOTE* This item ships in sections and is meant to be welded and or clamped together. The H pipes were clamped on the original systems. Kits do not include pipe clamps, hangers, or exhaust manifold donuts.

Please allow 4 - 6 weeks for delivery.

    Pros:
    • OEM look and fit
    • high quality
    Cons:
    • mufflers too quiet
I ordered this system for my '70 vert that was originally a 351C-2V, FMX car. The H-pipe included with this kit was spot on - for an original transmission car. I forgot when ordering that I'd swapped my tranny for a modern T5 which resulted in interference with the crossover of the H pipe. I had to have it modified by an exhaust shop and that resulted in a need to adjust the clearance at the muffler hangers too (using OEM muffler hangers throughout). I'm sure the system manufacturer could have accommodated this from the start had I remembered.

Note - the mufflers supplied are very quiet. I asked for the next level up in sound but due to an ordering mix up, I didn't get those and once on the car it was too late. No big deal, just not as deep a sound as I was hoping. Overall though I'm very happy.

I bought my 69 Cougar in Jul of '09 as a retirement from the Army gift to myself. From day 1 it had intermittent heating problems that I tried to fix. I changed the radiator, thermostat, water pump, and added 2 12 in 1400 cfm electric cooling...
