    Description

We worked with the manufacturer to develop this reproduction in-tank, fuel sending unit with the low fuel option, but we are not happy with the results.

This is a reproduction of a 1970 fuel sending unit with 3 prongs (2 electrical and 1 alignment prong). The original Ford casting number was D0WF-9275-B. This unit comes with a new 3/8 inch filter, brass float, and sending unit gasket.

These are completely interchangeable on all 1970 Mercury Cougar XR7's, which came with a 20 gallon CA Emissions fuel tank or a 22 gallon standard fuel tank, as well as all 1970 Ford Mustangs with 16 gallon fuel tank.

    NOTES:

    • These fuel sending units are NOT as accurate as low fuel indicators in modern vehicles and will only register 3/4 when full.
    • Not compatible with Mercury Cougar Standard models, as the sending units without low fuel have 1 electrical prong.
    • WE CAN NO LONGER ACCEPT RETURNS ON THIS ITEM
    • We highly recommend using our rebuild service to service your existing fuel sending unit.

Sure is nice to have both the gas gauge AND low fuel light working together. Worst part of the operation was draining the fuel. The part fit perfectly and works great!

    Question
    Asked:
The description says "New & Improved as of January 2021!" What does that mean exactly? I have saw several comments on the forum that the 18901# sending unit fuel level is off considerably on these replacements units so I have been hesitant to order one. Can you tell me if the corrected levels is one of the improvements? Thanks

These are not as accurate as modern low fuel indicators, but their accuracy is very similar to what the originals were.

    Question
    Asked:
I find the catalog description is confusing. it says 16 gallon then 20 and 22 gallon. How can all of those be right? And I always thought all '70 XR7 including convertibles had a 22 gallon tank... Please set me straight because a prior owner one replaced the sending unit with a 1 prong when they replaced the tank in my XR7 Convertible.

I have updated the product description to try to make this clearer. This fuel sending unit will work with any of those tank sizes on 1970 Cougar or Mustang.

Why am I being warned about potential exposure to chemicals in motor vehicle parts?

    • Some chemicals in motor vehicle parts are on the Proposition 65 list because they can cause cancer and/or birth defects or other reproductive harm.
    • When purchasing USED or NOS items, we do not know if listed chemicals are present in these products.
    • This product is known to contain the following listed chemicals:
