Inside door handle release mechanism for the passenger side on early 1971 Cougar and Mustang. Early because this latch mechanism went through a couple of revisions by the end of 1973. Ford calls this part a 'control and link assembly', this particular one only works with the deluxe door handles as shown in the photo. The Ford MPC describes those door handles as fitting the door panels with molded armrests, instead of the smaller detachable armrests on the base interiors. This early style was used well into the 1971 model year and was installed until approximately June 1, 1971. It uses two bolts for attaching and has the light duty spring, which is the reason for the first revision.
