Application for all 1971 - 1973 Cougars with factory C6 automatic transmission. Also the correct application for those wanting to install a small block C6 in their 1967 - 1970 Cougar. Original engine options include 351-2V, 351-4V, and 429CJ. We have found two versions of this crossmember, one with three holes in the middle section where the rubber isolator mounts and one with two. This part weighs 2.96 pounds and when set on a level surface, the height of the mounting hole on the driver side measures 3" on center on both versions and the passenger side of the three hole version measures 3 1/8" on center and 3 1/16" on center for the two hole version. The MPC makes no mention of this minor difference.
Replaces Ford part number D1ZZ-6A023-A. (Ford part number D1ZZ-6A023-B for FMX.)
*NOTE* Whereas this unit looks much like the much sought after 390/428CJ big block unit and can "be made to" work it is not correct. It will raise the transmission height about a 1/2" which will affect a couple things such as the fan being off kilter, and your accelerator linkage on the 67-68. Many people try to pass this unit off as BB C-6 so be armed with knowledge before you put down the cash.
