    Pros:
    • Quick install
    • Works like a champ
    Cons:
The original IVR on my 68 Cougar (with a dash out of a 67 XR7) went bad so I took the opportunity for a forced upgrade. Its only a few bucks more than a used one and its not as if my car is even pretending to be all-original. This solid state IVR appears to be identical in size and shape to the original but the appearance of the exposed circuit board is a dead give away but aside from the guilt of lying to yourself about the originality no judge is going to know the difference.

If you dexterous in your left hand you can replace this part with out pulling the cluster out by unscrewing the climate controls and working through the opening. At least in my non-ac car with an average sized hand.

    • Not made in the USA like described.
One of the big reasons I bought this one from WCCC was it stated it was made in the USA! In fact what arrived was not a USA part but a china one. It does look just like the pictures and appears to be a decent part(not installed yet) but I spent the extra money thinking I was getting USA part and not a Chinese one like most other vendors have. Maybe the supplier simply changed the source without notifying anyone at WCCC but please update this listing so customers know what to expect.

I was having issues with 3 of my gauges on my '68 XR7. Oil pressure and water temp were reading too high. Fuel gauge was sometimes correct and sometimes worked backward Empty to Full. I tried new senders and verified groundings, but no change. Put this little regulator on and they are perfect. Not a calibration issue. Just a bad original voltage regulator. This dude goes on the backside of the gauge cluster....Not under the hood.
This is the modern solid state version, the one you want. Should last a long time.

I’m starting from scratch. Which terminal is the 12v connected to?

    WCCC Admin Answered:
is the J1 12v input considered switched power?

J1 is intended to get its power through the ignition switch so the power is cut when the ignition is off.

Our good originals (https://secure.cougarpartscatalog.com/67instreg.html) have IGN (Ignition) marked beside the male spade connector (J1 on this unit).

Why am I being warned about potential exposure to chemicals in motor vehicle parts?

    • Some chemicals in motor vehicle parts are on the Proposition 65 list because they can cause cancer and/or birth defects or other reproductive harm.
    • When purchasing USED or NOS items, we do not know if listed chemicals are present in these products.
    • This product is known to contain the following listed chemicals:
