The gauge tester that I bought is a very cool device. It tested out my gauge voltage regulator and the temp and fuel gauges that weren't working. I found out that the gauges work fine so now i know the senders are the problem.

Remove hours of hunting through manuals for specs and get to work instantly: simple instructions let you send a known signal to your instrument which should generate a certain result. Troubleshooting just got easier. Best value in my toolbox.

I got the tester and noticed how well constructed it is I worked in Electrical construction business and big part of my work dealt with instrumentation. This is a quality instrument and within few minutes i tested all the xr7 gauges. The power pulse or constant power is indicated by a lamp. and 3 level positioning readings is all one needs to re calibrate the gauge So all three gauges tested for me just fine a bit of tweeking will make them factory set. I switched out my amp gauge for voltage gauge Lastly, by performing these tests, the senders are isolated and indicates fault if there is no reading when they are online.

Absolute must for these old EOM gauges. Tested with and without this gauge and it works perfectly. Follow the instructions and you will be pleased. I thought I was having a temp issue coming but after testing with this gauge and then using a separate water temp gauge I was able to confirm that the OEM gauge was in fact registering the hot temp too high. Good to know going forward.

To be honest, I haven't used the tester yet. My Cougar has been in th body shop for a month. Talk about seperation anxiety! As soon as it gets out, I plan to try it. If the tester is like most things I have gotten from WCCC, then it will be great. I hope it will help me sort out some of the wiring.
